KOS-MOS key holder and pin badge, finally!

November 21, 2017

After many years of searching, I've finally acquired the last key holder and pin badge that I was hunting down, the ones of KOS-MOS. A huge thanks to opkij from The Xenosaga Collector for his help in obtaining this!

I do have a little bit of a story to go with this. Certainly, I do not have all of the Movic key holders and pin badges, but I told myself I would be content with just Shion, KOS-MOS, and M.O.M.O., as they were my favorites. Even so, finding KOS-MOS was very difficult and made me wish I had tried to get them when they were plentiful on ebay back in the early 2000s. But sadly, I had only nabbed the Shion pin badge at the time. It wasn't until a few years ago that I got the Shion and M.O.M.O. key holders, and then a year or so after that that I obtained the M.O.M.O. pin badge through opkij's help. (It's how we met, actually!)

Though I kept an eye out on YAJ for some time to see if I could eventually get KOS-MOS. I waited and waited, and finally an auction arrived that had her, along with a few other small Xenosaga items. I bid, but had a tiny bit of a bid war with another person before it ultimately ended in my failure. I was a little bummed out about it, but did move on. Though I ended up ranting to opkij about it a few days later.

Here's the irony; my competitor was opkij himself! It was a bit of a silly situation, so I did have a good laugh. And since they were duplicates for him, he let me purchase the KOS-MOS items for a fair price. This auction ended back in August, but I didn't receive them until today since I had a backlog of things to pay for. I'm glad he was patient with me! Now I can finally consider this section of my Xenosaga collection complete to my standards. I don't have much desire to get the chaos and Jr. ones, though who knows what will happen years down the road. For now, I am content.

Many new Xenosaga books!

September 12, 2017

It was a bit of waiting, but after a month I finally received all of the Xenosaga books that I purchased!

That's a whole bunch of books there! Let's look at a quick breakdown of what's new.
  • Episode I DNA Media Comics Comic Anthology Vol. 1, 2, and 4 Koma
  • Episode I Supercomic Gekijou Vol. 1
  • Episode I manga adaptation Vol. 1-3
  • Episode I Post Card Book (tough to see)
I was really anticipating this as I've been wanting to get some Xenosaga books for awhile. Three of these books are also the second time I've owned them, as I had to let go of them years ago for one reason or another. These books were the Comic Anthology Vol. 1, Supercomic Gekijou Vol. 1, and Post Card Book. Over ten years later and I finally have them again!

I am overall pleased with the quality of these books, although as is with most manga I purchase from Japan lately, the spine is sun faded on one of them. It isn't too bad, but it was noticeable to me. Worse than that though is that while the Post Card Book is in nice condition appearance wise, it has an odor like that of cigarettes and a musky basement. Yikes. It actually makes my head spin. I'll have to find some solution to that, but I'm not sure what. In the mean time, I'll keep it away from the other books. Don't want to risk that smell permeating other books.

First Xenosaga telephone cards!

August 18, 2017

Thanks to the very helpful opkij, owner of The Xenosaga Collector, I now have my first set of telephone cards!

I'm happy as can be that I finally have some after so long. Now to get working on the rest, right? Some of those will be a real pain to try and track down, though!
